Getting Started

They say all good things come to an end, but how do good things get started? From those three week long mistake-of-a-relationships to marriages lasting over 50 years, all relationships had to start somehow. Maybe it all started with a nervous young boy confessing his feelings in the halls just before the bell for second period. For the less brave and open hearted it might have started the more common way, of course being facebook chat. Whatever methods may have been used, one big step in relationships is the first one: getting that first date.
More often then not it’s the males who take on this challenge. What I've always wondered is why a boy is able to go up to a girl and ask her out with such ease that you'd think he does it every week (and maybe he does) and yet most girls wouldn't dare ask a boy out. Maybe it's our insecurities or maybe it's just too unconventional. But how many times have you been really interested in a boy and done nothing about it? How many times have you heard your friend talk about a boy non-stop for weeks but not once seen her talk to him? So here's a challenge to all you confident girls walking the halls: next time you see that cute boy pass by, stop for a minute and talk to him. You know that boy in your math class that always talks to you? Ask him to hang out during lunch. Because when you get something you want that isn't just handed to you, it's just that much better.
